The Senate acquitted US President Donald Trump of impeachment.
The president has been found not guilty on both articles of impeachment – abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
48 people voted for the indictment in the first paragraph - 47 Democratic Party representatives and only one Republican Mitt Romney. The second charge was supported by 47 senators. To eliminate Trump from power, 67 votes were needed.
This means that not only Donald Trump is going to remain in the office, he is also going to be eligible for reelection later this year.
