The social media and all of the news resources have been flooded with videos and photos of Notre Dame ablaze. And with good reason. This church is nearly 900 years old and it has withstood everything that the history of France threw at it all these years. And one small spark destroyed the gorgeous roof and the spire on it.
Last week ago Tim Cook – the CEO of Apple tweeted that Apple is going to give money for the restoration of the Cathedral.
So far such companies as LVMH – a conglomerate which owns the luxury fashion brands Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Givenchy and Total - the French energy company as well stated that they are going to pledge donations to restore the great Notre Dame. Ubisoft – game developing company, who are also going to be helping with restoring Notre Dame by giving the French government 1:1 3D computer model of the cathedral.
Among rich and powerful: billionaire owner of the luxury company, Kering, Francois Henri-Pinault, have committed $450 million for reconstruction purposes. Bernard Arnault, who is estimated to be worth $91.7 billion offered the design and architectural resources of the LVMH group to the restoration of Notre Dame.
The Bettencourt Meyers family – a family that owns one third of the L'Oréal cosmetics empire, claimed that they are going to donate $226 million — half of it from L'Oréal and half from the family's foundation.
Billionaire Henry Kravis, and his wife, Marie-Josée Kravis, also announced that they are going to donate $10 million for the rebuilding.
